Students receive free computer software

October 1, 2004

Students passing through the Union on Thursday between 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. had a chance to get a free copy of Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 software that allows students to organize notes online.

The program, which was given out by representatives from the promotion company Mr. Youth, LLC, includes computer tools such as highlighters, pens and a to-do list.

Katie St. Oars, a company representative, said MSU is the 20th college campus they had visited giving out the software, which is valued at $50.

"It's like Microsoft Word, but better," St. Oars said.

St. Oars said they started the software tour in Philadelphia and will have gone to 31 universities by the time they are done.

"On every campus we've gone to, some students think it's a catch. They ask if they have to sign up for anything," St. Oars said. "There's no catch, we're just trying to help students take better notes."

At the end of the day St. Oars said they had given away 1,000 of their 1,500 disks.
