Police briefs 04/13/04

A 48-year-old male university employee reported $3 in coins taken from his office in East McDonel Hall on Thursday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The man said he went to his office and tried to unlock the door when he noticed something blocking it. He was able to push the door open far enough to turn on a light switch, at which point a male voice from inside the office said, "Please leave me alone."MSU police officers responded to the scene with a K-9 dog but were unable to locate anyone. Nothing else appeared missing or disturbed from the office.While police were on the scene, another male employee, 36, told police about $3 to $5 in nickels and dimes was taken from his office as well. The coins were in a desk drawer, and the office was locked at the time.Police have no suspects.· MSU police officers responded to South Case Hall on Thursday with reports of glass being broken in the courtyard, McGlothian-Taylor said.When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered two leather chairs, five metal chairs and a bicycle lying in the grass. It appeared the items had been thrown through a window, breaking the glass.Estimated value of the damage to the window and the items is $650, and police have no suspects.Sarah McEvilly
