Children's well-being issue of foundation

February 11, 2004

Students interested in helping children's health in the global community can check out a new group whose goal is just that.

Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children meets at 8:30 p.m., every other Wednesday in B102 Wells Hall. Their next meeting is today.

The group is working to raise $1,000 which, according to group founder and president Lisa Tovey, "will go to help set up a children's free medical clinic in Costa Rica."

The group also is setting up a medical goods drive, and is in need of items such as unused packages of gauze, unopened packages of expired medication, stretchers and heart monitors.

Although the group is working to send money to help children internationally, Tovey said the group also is looking for service opportunities around the campus and in East Lansing.
