Buried: Storm dumps snowflakes

With only her eyes exposed to the cold, dietetics junior Shannon Cole waits for a bus at the outside of Shaw Hall. Winter storms have piled snow in the area, prompting more students to use buses to get around.

"It's not that bad. We'll survive. This is basically an excuse not to go to class."

- Michelle Tarnowski, biological science junior

"I watch out for everyone else because I know I'm a safe driver. I'm hoping for a snow day tonight."

- Mandy Hills, park, recreation and tourism resources senior

"I try to keep (sidewalks) clean, but it's the snow that keeps on giving. The most predictable thing about our weather is that it's unpredictable - so predict that."

- Steve Mihalik, custodial services, Agriculture Hall

"They don't have time to plow the sidewalks; why should we go to class?"

- Valerie Goode, pre-nursing freshman

"I am not afraid. I've lived in Siberia. For me, this reminds me of home."

- Vladimir Shlapentokh, sociology professor

"The buses are so crammed, they're leaving people at the stops."

- Marjorie Rodriguez, no-preference freshman

"It's cold as hell, and it's too dangerous."

- Ray Hightower, sociology junior

"It sucks. I want to cry. They should have canceled this whole school."

- Tenaicsha Boyce, psychology freshman

"People who drive are in trouble. More people should walk, and then they wouldn't have a problem."

- Gary Weissmann, assistant professor of geology
