ASMSU's Academic Assembly will meet tonight for a committee meeting instead of its scheduled general-assembly meeting.

ASMSU is MSU's undergraduate student government.

Assembly Chairperson Jared English said the assembly members decided to meet in committee for a second week so they could address more issues and get more accomplished. The assembly will hold its next general meeting Feb. 3.

The committee will discuss recommendations for the university's future in liberal arts and contributing funds for the Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship fund.

Members also will work on internal codes so they can retain some Academic Assembly funds to sponsor academic events such as lectures, instead of drawing money from its operating budget.
