Two students received the Donald P. Durocher Memorial Scholarship Award in the amount of $2,000 to go toward their studies in public relations education and professional development.
Brian Winters and Ashley Bell received the award from the Detroit Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. It's the first time that two students from the same school have received this award.
"I'm happy to see that someone else agreed that what I was doing was successful," Winters said.
Bell, a Saginaw native, is a journalism senior specializing in public relations and multicultural studies. At MSU, Bell is a member of the Multi-Racial Unity Living Experience and also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. Since 1992, the Scholarship Committee of the Detroit Chapter has awarded two undergraduates studying in the fields of public relations, journalism or communications.
