Support for Israel hard to come by

In "American-backed Israel not the victim in Palestinian fight" (SN 10/21), Crystal Burks wrote that "When I see the news, I don't just see suicide bombings; I see one country crying out for help against another country that seemingly is supported by everyone."

Burks might want to consider the numerous United Nations resolutions condemning Israel for its "occupation" of Palestine and re-evaluate whether "everyone" supports Israel.

The simple fact is the United Nations, aka. the "international community," does not support Israel.

In fact, nearly 300 resolutions have condemned Israel in some manner in the past 40 years, yet a condemnation of the terror regime of Palestine for supporting the terrorists who murder innocent children and teenagers in discos remains shockingly absent. Obviously, there is an anti-Israel bias outside of the United States.

Even more shocking, however, is the rampant anti-Semitism in Europe as evidenced by the recent surge in anti-Jewish violence there, as well as the hypocrisy of the radical left in the United States, which proclaim its radical egalitarian agenda to include a portrayal of Israel as a Nazi state where Jews are compared to Adolf Hitler.

It is indeed sad that the same mentality that led to the deaths of 6 million Jews infects the minds of some people even today.
