Buckhalter, Glenn worth roster spot; bench struggling Burress

We will show how many former Wolverines have faltered and how they compare to the Spartans in the pros.

Styf barely slipped by last week, with help from Jamal Lewis, for a slight victory over Stevie E., but "E" still has a huge point lead overall.

With Priest Holmes and the Kansas City Chiefs, along with the Tennessee Titans and Steve McNair on bye weeks, this week should be less interesting, but Saturday will make up for that.

Styf scouts the Spartans and the Wolverines

The late arrival this season has been a gem for the former Wolverines. Brian Griese was the star Monday night in Tempe, Ariz., and likely will lead the Dolphins at Pro Player Stadium in Miami (where championships are born) against the Colts.

The Spartans will counter with T.J. Duckett looking for a breakout performance for himself and his team against the Eagles.

Spartans Derrick Mason and Morten Andersen have bye weeks, but Paul Edinger will be looking to outscore his Michigan teammates David Terrell and Anthony Thomas. Michigan also has Falcons place-kicker Jay Feely on its side.

The key for the Spartans will be whether Plaxico Burress can break out of his funk for the Steelers. If not, the former Wolverines might give the Spartans a fantasy drubbing, with Tom Brady waiting to finish them off when they play at Denver on Monday night.

Tai Streets and Amani Toomer could be the X-factors that the Wolverines need to lead, but don't sleep on Panthers wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad, who might return from the concussion he suffered two weeks ago when his team faces the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Stevie E. says sit 'em

A once promising season has turned into a sad campaign for Pittsburgh receiver Plaxico Burress.

Burress began the season by catching 13 passes for 231 yards and one touchdown in the first two weeks. Since, he has hauled in just 16 passes for 205 yards and no touchdowns.

Burress is struggling with the play of quarterback Tommy Maddox. Keep this slumping receiver on the bench.

And Denver's woes are causing trouble in the mountains. Quarterback Jake Plummer's injury has had a negative effect on his receivers, who are struggling to take passes from back-up Danny Kanell.

Avoid Denver receivers Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie until Plummer returns.

Styf says start 'em

Look to start the Colts' second receiving option, Reggie Wayne, after a strong showing last week. Fantasy owners should also make sure that speedster Santana Moss is getting proper recognition for his excellent play of late and consider giving him the nod this weekend.

Make sure you start Kerry Collins this week. After his impressive game last week, he'll beat up on the Jets' defense.

Also, make sure that you start all of the Vikings that you have; they should beat up on the Green Bay Packers this weekend.

Stevie E. says add 'em

Quality running backs are hard to come by after eight weeks of the season.

But one might be found roaming Philadelphia - Correll Buckhalter. In the latest stop on the team's running-back-by-committee experiment, Buckhalter proved most worthy, running for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Performances such as that one can't be overlooked by coaches, making Buckhalter a nice addition for the stretch run.

Dallas receiver Terry Glenn is back.

As a rookie, the speedy receiver from Ohio State made waves and grabbed footballs. Expectations grew early in his career as production dropped off.

Who would have thought that after eight weeks, he would have 26 catches and four touchdowns?

While Glenn won't be a model of consistency, expect his production to improve throughout the season. He could be good for a playoff time victory.

Also consider adding Miami quarterback Brian Griese, who looks to unseat often-troubled Jay Fiedler. Griese has proven his worth in the league and could find himself at the helm for Miami in the weeks ahead.
