A 43-year-old Haslett man was arrested for striking nine different cars Monday night, East Lansing police Capt. Juli Liebler said.While allegedly drunk, the man also struck signs at the intersections of Abbott Road and Saginaw Highway, Haslett and Hagadorn roads and Parkvale Avenue and Haslett Road. He smashed and destroyed the brick pillars that hold up the roof at Brookover Fleischmann & Carr PC, 1005 Abbott Road. He lost control of his pickup truck, which had a snowplow attached to it, on Haslett Road. The vehicle caught fire and a person driving by pulled the subject from the vehicle. There were no injuries in the case.The man faces charges of hit-and-run property damage, fleeing and eluding and drunken driving. A 40-year-old male university employee reported a radioactive material spill Monday in the Biochemistry Building, MSU police Sgt. Jennifer Brown said.It was considered to be a small spill of a low-risk unidentified material. The Office of Radiation, Chemical & Biological Safety responded to the spill. An 18-year-old female student reported $25 stolen from her purse between Thursday and Sunday in East Holmes Hall, Brown said.The student suspects someone stole the money on Friday when she left the purse unattended for about two hours in her unlocked room.Police have no suspects.
