It's the CD for which almost every fan of the more recent Detroit explosion has be waiting for, call it part two if you want - The White Stripes' fourth album "Elephant." The disc includes the already popular first single "Seven Nation Army," a catchy "Ball and Biscuit" and even a surprising guest appearance by Detroit news television personality Mort Crim on "Little Acorns."
Following in the theme of two-member groups, The Kills, who have toured with Sleater-Kinney, releases its debut album "Keep on Your Mean Side." The duo, consisting of vocalist and guitarist VV and drummer, guitarist and also vocalist (phew) Hotel, released an EP in 2002 titled "Black Rooster."
Other not-so-shocking news: Another member of the Wu-Tang Clan releases a new album. Ghostface Killah's "Ghostface Killah: Shaolin's Finest" hits stores as the artist's fifth release since 1996. As one of the original Clan members, Killah contributed to the debut "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" which established the group and expanded its members.
Metal-based Stereomud releases its sophomore album "Every Given Moment." The band's first album, "Perfect Self," used three famous producers: Don Gilmore (Lit, Linkin Park), Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains) and Howie Beno (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry).
Punk-rock band Boy Sets Fire comes out with its fifth album "Tomorrow Come Today." The album, which is also available with a bonus DVD, is being released on rock label Wind-Up Records housing artists such as Creed, Finger Eleven and Drowning Pool.
Do you have The Fugees? Well if you don't you might want to get them on the release of "Greatest Hits." The trio, though only in the spotlight for about two years, had been performing together since their formation in 1987. Among the songs in the "Greatest Hits" compilation are a cover of Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry."
The British attack with the release of Placebo's fourth album "Sleeping With Ghosts." The band has opened for such acts as U2, the reunited Sex Pistols and Weezer.
The attack continues with Robbie Williams' "Escapology." Williams, who can be remembered by the MTV2 generation for ripping his skin off in the video "Rock DJ," only reached No. 63 on The Billboard 200 with his U.S. release of "The Ego Has Landed."
And Gob, who has been touring with Avril Lavigne, releases "Foot in Mouth Disease" and ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead releases its fourth album, "The Secret of Elena's Tomb."
