Karaoke night to help children

MRULE, the Multi-Racial Unity Living Experience, will host a karaoke night at 8 p.m. Friday in the Wonders Hall Kiva to raise donations, like books, toys and clothing for children they interact with in orphanages in South Africa.

Many of the children are HIV positive.

The karaoke night is to help bring support to the group so they can raise money in fund-raisers to build houses for underprivileged people.

The project, called Houses of Hope, is part of the race relations program in South Africa through the Office of Study Abroad.

"It's supporting the idea of this future project we have here and try to keep it in the forefront of people's minds, so we can build up the support over time for this MSU collaboration," faculty leader Jeanne Gazel said.
