A fire broke out Tuesday night in the basement of Wilson Hall, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. A 22-year-old male student reported a trash compactor was on fire and called the East Lansing Fire Department.The fire was extinguished by the hall's sprinkler system. There may be damage to the compactor, elevator and basement floor due to water, McGlothian-Taylor said.• A 26-year-old female student reported her unattended book bag, valued at $30 and her purse, valued at $15 were stolen Tuesday afternoon from the Chemistry Building, McGlothian-Taylor said.Also taken were her identification card, a credit card, an ATM card and personal identification cards. Police have no suspects, McGlothian-Taylor said.• About $500 of damage was reported when the trunk of a 1999 Buick was scratched Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 20-year-old male student reported his car was scratched by an unknown object in the southeast corner of Lot 89.• Monday, on the fourth floor of the Library, a 51-year-old female employee said her leather wallet valued at $60 and $40 cash was stolen, McGlothian-Taylor said. The wallet was left unattended.• A 19-year-old female reported a textbook, her backpack, her hat, her gloves, her calculator and her mp3 player were stolen, McGlothian-Taylor said.The female, who placed her belongings in a book rack at the MSU Bookstore Tuesday morning, found her items were gone after shopping, McGlothian-Taylor said.The items are valued at over $220.Chad Previch
