Lecture to be held on constitutional issues

November 12, 2002

A lecture on the institutional and constitutional issues involved with legislation created by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in 1220 Engineering Building.

Part of the legislation focuses on limiting contributions from corporations and unions to political candidates for use in their campaigns.

David M. Mason, chairman of the Federal Election Commission, will deliver the 90-minute speech. Mason has been chairman since 1998 and is a member of the commission's finance committee.

The event is free and no registration is required. It is sponsored by the Michigan Political Leadership Program, Michigan Political History Society and the MSU Office of Governmental Affairs.
