Chicago rocker to play Rick's

Rick's American Café, 224 Abbott Road, will host the Chicago-based band David Stagle & the Burning Daylight at 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

"I'm very excited to be coming to East Lansing," said Stagle, lead singer of the group, in a written statement. "We've been trying to play there for so long. It's going to be a great night.

"I think our fans along with the Pushing 33 fans are going to be surprised when they finally get to hear us."

The band is touring in support of its debut album, "Falling Off the Merry-Go-Round." It follows the same sounds of U2, Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows and Train.

Stagle said he hopes the record will serve as an anchor to tap into the collective experience to create a sense of community with audiences.

"I sincerely believe that if the music is good enough, you'll attract musicians who want to play it and fans who want to hear it," he said.

The band will perform with the East Lansing locals of Pushing 33.
