  • Club Paradise, 224 S. Washington Square in Lansing, will host round two of Battle of the Bands. This week: Betrayed By Birth, The Tourettes Ponies, The Monokulators and Killer Miller. A Cher look-alike contest will be held at 1 a.m. The winner gets two tickets to the Cher and Cyndi Lauper concert Saturday at Breslin Center.   • The Alliance of Lesbian-Bi-Gay-Transgendered and Straight Ally Students will host “The Rainbow Party,” which is a celebration of coming out into an accepting community. The dance will take place from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Union Ballroom. Everyone is welcome and snacks will be provided.

  • To start the 2002-03 basketball season, the MSU men’s and women’s teams will host Midnight Mania at Breslin Center. Doors open at 10:30 p.m., and will feature appearances by Sparty and the MSU Dance Team, as well as games, prizes, music and autographed posters by the men’s and women’s teams. The event is free.
