A 23-year-old male student reported his JanSport backpack and its contents stolen from the Main Library on Monday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The student left his backpack unattended on a table and when he returned five minutes later it was missing, McGlothian-Taylor said.A Nextel cell phone and a Texas Instruments calculator were among the items taken, McGlothian-Taylor said.The items are valued at $335. A 51-year-old MSU employee reported a fire extinguisher was sprayed on the walls and floor outside Cherry Lane Apartments on Monday, McGlothian-Taylor said. Between 5 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Monday, a fire extinguisher was taken from the first floor west end cabinet of 705 Cherry Lane Apartments, McGlothian-Taylor said. The extinguisher was sprayed outside the south end of 703 Cherry Lane Apartments, McGlothian-Taylor said. The loss is valued at $35.Alison Barker
