Police briefs 09/19/02

A male student, 24, reported a Casio digital camera stolen from the Gilchrist Hall Pub, MSU police Sgt. Jennifer Brown said. The camera, valued at $550, was stolen between 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15.The student said he left his book bag unattended with the camera inside for three days. When he came to claim it, the camera was missing but the book bag was still present, Brown said.Police are investigating.• A female employee, 36, reported a banner stolen from Williams Hall’s south entrance, Brown said. The banner, which read “Welcome to Williams Hall,” was taken between 5 p.m. Aug. 25 and 7 a.m. Aug. 26. The 3-by-15 banner is valued at $200, Brown said.Police are investigating.• The same employee reported a banner stolen from the north entrance to Campbell Hall, Brown said. The banner, which read “Welcome to Campbell Hall,” was taken between 5 p.m. Aug. 22 and 7 a.m. Aug. 23, Brown said.The 3-by-15 banner is valued at $200, Brown said.The banner was recovered by the East Lansing Police Department from an unknown person after an officer noticed it hanging from the balcony of a Louis Street house in East Lansing.• A male employee, 65, reported 25 blank compact discs stolen from a 50-disc package, Brown said. The burglary took place at the employee’s office in the Plant Soil Sciences Building between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and 9 a.m. Sept. 9, Brown said.The employee said he was certain he had locked his office door before leaving the discs, on his desk for the weekend, Brown said. The stolen items are valued at $25, Brown said.Police are investigating.Megan Frye
