Police briefs 08/27/02

A female student reported her cell phone stolen from the Wonders Hall cafeteria on Sunday, MSU police Sgt. Alan Haller said.It was reported stolen between 9:30 and 10 a.m., Haller said. Police have no suspects.• A man reported an assault and battery in Wilson Hall at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday, Haller said. A male nonstudent and a male student are being investigated as suspects, Haller said.• A female employee at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility reported embezzlement Friday, Haller said.The report said another employee allegedly took about $850 throughout 2001. An investigation is pending.• A male student reported destruction of property near the Wonders Hall south entrance Thursday, Haller said. It appeared someone kicked the vehicle between 6:40 and 7 p.m., Haller said. Police have no suspects.• A female student reported a burglary in Emmons Hall on Friday, Haller said. The student’s purse was reported missing between 9 and 10 a.m., Haller said. Police have no suspects.• The motor of an electric blower shorted out in the Biochemistry Building around 8 p.m. on Sunday, East Lansing Fire Department Deputy Chief Scot Wyman said.Firefighters responded to a call of smoke in the basement and ventilated the area.Alison Barker and Tara May
