Free concert offers fun for families

July 22, 2002

The East Lansing Kiwanis Community Band will perform a free family concert in East Lansing’s Patriarche Park, located on the corner of E. Saginaw and Alton streets, at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Conducted by Steve Burian, the band is supported by the Kiwanis Club and East Lansing Public Schools. It will bring together amateur musicians from the Lansing area.

Designed to appeal to the young and the young-at-heart, the concert is intended to entertain the entire family. It will feature classic marching band music, as well as familiar tunes from Disney productions, television cartoons and movies. For a finale, the band will play a rendition of the “Michigan State Fight Song.”

Equally enticing, children can venture through the playground’s many attractions. Attendees might want to bring a blanket or lawn chair, as seating is not provided.
