Nellyville continues the success

As Nelly heats up video and radio stations with his new single “Hot in Herre,” his newly released album, “Nellyville,” sits atop of the Billboard 200 chart, selling 1.2 million copies in its first two weeks.

Since Nelly hit the rap scene in 2000 with his album “Country Grammar,” which sold $7.8 million, he has heated up the charts with big sales.

Nelly became the first rapper from St. Louis to reach platinum status, and he has collaborated with some of the biggest musicians in the industry. He’s at the top of the game because his style blends a Southern sound and a Midwest perspective.

Featured on this 19-song album is Cedric the Entertainer, Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child, Justin Timberlake from ’N Sync and the St. Lunatics.

The first track welcomes listeners to “Nellyville,” describing how life would be if Nelly had his own town. The creative aspect of the idea is cool because it starts with “Welcome to Nellyville where all newborns get a half a mil.” Then he continues with “Nobody livin‘ average everybody got gains
