Charities begin anniversary house construction

The Habitat for Humanity/Lansing will be breaking ground on its 15th anniversary project, “The House that Lansing Built,” at 6 p.m. June 12.

The build site is located at the intersection of South Holmes and Perkins streets.

The house will represent the symbolic fight of the community against substandard housing and celebrate the continued work the organization has done locally.

“Habitat for Humanity works with very low income people, and offers them a chance to purchase a house that normally wouldn’t have,” said Denise M. Paquette, Habitat for Humanity/Lansing executive director.

Construction is expected to begin in July.

Several businesses, churches and individuals have made significant contributions to support the project.
