O’Malley’s will donate a portion of the cover charge on Friday to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event at MSU, the 24-hour team event to fight cancer is being held April 20-21 at Jenison Field House. • The MSU School of Music presents Trombone Day, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Events will be presented at the People’s Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave. Trombone Day is a day of trombone activities honoring Curtis Olson, professor of trombone at MSU since 1976. The day will feature performances by guest artists and MSU alumni as well as the world premiere of two trombone choir compositions written in honor of Olson. The activities are free, but a suggested donation of $5 for students and $10 for adults will be applied toward the Eric Ewazen commission fund.
