Men fall to Penn State

April 9, 2002

The men’s tennis team (13-9 overall, 1-6 Big Ten) split six singles matches against underdog Penn State, but the Nittany Lions claimed the team doubles point and a 4-3 victory over MSU on Sunday in State College, Pa.

Freshman Andrew Formanczyktm (No. 2), junior Jimmy McGuire (No. 4) and freshman Cameron Marshall (No. 6) all won singles matches for MSU, but it wasn’t enough to stave off an upset by Penn State (8-10, 1-5).

MSU’s only doubles win came when the No. 3 team of senior Goran Topalo and sophomore Mike Jonckheere scored an 8-5 victory over Penn State’s Roddy Cantey and Michael Anderson.
