• Renowned jazz performers share the stage with MSU’s jazz faculty members at the Pasant Theatre. The Jazz Spectacular begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $16 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for students. Tickets are available through the Wharton Center Box Office.

• The city of East Lansing presents the 17th Annual Spring Children’s Concert Series. Mustard’s Retreat will perform. The concert is from 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be held at Martin Luther Chapel, 444 Abbott Road. Admission is free. • The International Center will host “Jazz and Poetry Night” from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The night will include poetry readings, live jazz music, craft activities and free coffee and soda pop beverages. Admission is free. For more information call the University Activities Board at (517)355-3354.

• Wharton Center presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.” The pre-Broadway tour will be held from March 12-17. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is determine by seating. • The MSU Museum presents The Age of Packaging in honor of the School of Packaging’s 50th Anniversary. The exhibit opened runs until Oct. 27. The MSU Museum, located on West Circle Drive, will display the evolution of historical and commercialized company packages. • One of America’s oldest film festivals is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The Ann Arbor Film Festival consist of workshops, seminars and free screenings. Over a hundred films will be screened at the Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty St. in downtown Ann Arbor. The festival events will run through Sunday. Admission is $15 to $50. • Jambalaya’s presents St. Patrick’s Weekend. Performances at Jambalaya’s, 5942 Round Lake Road in Laingsburg, include local bands Shepard’s Folly and Pub Domain and blues vocalist Suzie Pangborn. Shepard’s Folly, a traditional Irish and Celtic quartet, will perform in the main dinning at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is $5, but a reservation is recommended. Pub Domain, an energetic Irish fiddle and Celtic band, which includes step-dancers, and will perform at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10 to see the band perform on the Bayou Level. Also performing Saturday night is Pangborn at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the main dining room. There will be no cover charge to attend her performance. • Riverwalk Theatre presents “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.” The play, by August Wilson and directed by Vanessa Cunningham-Sanders, is about African Americans in a boarding house soul-searching and trying to relate to the urban present. The play runs 7 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Riverwalk Theatre, 228 Museum Drive in Lansing. Admission Thursday and Sunday is $10 for general admission, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. Friday and Saturday admission is $12 for general, and $10 for seniors and $5 for students. • BoarsHead Theater presents “Three days of Rain,” by Richard Greenberg. The play is about the exploration of a deceased fathers’ journal and the crumbling of a family during the reading of his will and testament. Showtimes at BoarsHead Theater, 425 S.
