A fire was reported at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at an apartment complex at 927 S. Washington Ave. in Lansing, fire Lt. John Dyer said.Smoke was seen coming from the top of the building and fire was seen coming from a third-floor window. The fire completely destroyed one apartment while two others were damaged from a hole cut in the floor by firefighters and water damage from hoses.The residents are staying at a Red Cross shelter. The cause of the fire is under investigation.• A 19-year-old male student reported two video game controllers and $150 stolen from his room between 2:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Feb. 22, Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor, said.The student left his Case Hall room unattended and when he returned the items were missing. The controllers are estimated at $35. There are no suspects.• A 20-year-old female student reported her dorm key and MSU ID card stolen between 10 p.m. and 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The student left her jacket and sweatpants unattended on the bleachers while playing basketball at IM Sports-West. When she returned the items were missing. She later found her jacket and sweatpants in the hall, but her keys and card were missing. The objects are valued at $50. There are no suspects.• A 21-year-old female student reported her book stolen between 8:06 p.m. and 8:09 p.m. Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student was studying in an Armstrong Hall laundry room when there was a fire drill. She left and when she returned the book was missing. There are no suspects.• Two 20-year-old female students reported several items and money stolen from their dorm room between 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, McGlothian-Taylor said.One of the residents left for class while another stayed to study in her loft. The door was left open and was closed when the student returned from class. A backpack containing a cellular phone, purse, calculator and $200 was missing.
