GM looks at safety of Lansing plant

After operating for more than 30 days, General Motors Corp. is spreading the word to Lansing residents about the implications of a modification to its Craft Centre.

The modification to the plant, 2801 W. Saginaw St. in Lansing, requires an alteration to the building’s air permit and the input of public response. The company held an informational meeting Tuesday at the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing, and will hold a public comment meeting on Feb. 12, the last day allowed for public comment.

Although the time for public comment was extended by a week, the meetings may be a little too late, said James Clift, policy director for the Michigan Environmental Council.
