Trot to aid anti-smoking cause

November 9, 2001

People thinking about quitting smoking cold turkey can seek support from others at the 14th Annual Cold Turkey Trot on Sunday.

The Turkey Trot is a 5K race benefiting the American Lung Association of Michigan and will begin at 1 p.m. at MSU’s IM Sports-West Turf Arena. The race will weave and wind through campus along the Red Cedar River and will end at the IM-Sports West Track.

Those interested can register for running, walking or chair races and children can register for a half-mile mini-trot.

An awards ceremony and raffle will follow the children’s event.

There is an $18 entrance fee for all registrations received by Saturday. On race day, the fee will be $22, which includes a T-shirt.

Registrants under age 15 will be charged $10 through Sunday.

Please call the American Lung Association of Michigan at (517)484-4541 for registration information.
