Friday

  • The Ten Pound Fiddle Coffeehouse concert series presents Cucanandy, a Celtic band, at 8 p.m. tonight at the Unitarium Universalist Church, 855 Grove St. Admission is $10 for the public. Students will receive a discount with an MSU ID. For more information call (517)337-7744.

  • Friday Night Improv Live! will provide popular Improv fans with some wholesome entertainment. It will take place at the East Lansing Recreation & Arts, Bailey Community Center, 300 Bailey St. from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a $3 admission at the door.   • The Campus Center will be sponsoring Amateur Night at the Union from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be talent competitions in dance, poetry, rap and singing along with a $50 prize per category. Also, people will be able to create their own CD. Prizes will be given if a University Activities Board representative spots people wearing green and white.

    Saturday

  • The Campus Center will be sponsoring Singles Night at the International Center from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The entertainment will include an imitation of the “Battle of the Sexes” game show, palm readings, tarot card readings and dancing.

  • The University Choral Ensembles, Choral Union and the MSU Symphony Orchestra will perform together at 8 p.m. in Wharton Center’s Great Hall. The Orchestra will perform Don Juan by Richard Strauss and Symphony No. 4 by Johannes Brahms. The Choral Ensembles, the Choral Union and guest Steven Jepson, a baritone soloist, will perform Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and free for students and those under 18.

    All Weekend

  • The Nylons will be performing Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Wharton Center. Friday’s show is sold-out, but tickets still remain for Saturday’s show. The show will take place at the Pasant Theatre. Tickets are $24. For more information, visit www.whartoncenter.com.

  • The Riverwalk Theatre will be hosting the play “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” this weekend. Friday and Saturday’s show will be at 8 p.m. Sunday’s show will be at 2 p.m. Tickets for adults are $12 on Friday and Saturday and $10 on Sunday. Tickets for seniors are $10 on Friday and Saturday and $8 on Sunday. Student tickets are $5 all weekend.

  • The Arena Theatre will host the play “for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf” by Ntozake Shange all weekend. Friday and Saturday’s performances will run at 8 p.m. while Sunday’s show will be at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for students.

  • The Campus Center Cinemas will be showing “America’s Sweethearts,” “Baby Boy” and “Amores perros” all weekend in Wells Hall. The movies are free for students living in resident halls with an MSU ID and $2 for all other students and the general public.   • Harper’s Restaurant & Brewpub comedy club welcomes Pat Godwin and Mike Stankiewicz this weekend. There will be two shows both Friday and Saturday night at 6:30 and 9. The restaurant is located at 131 Albert Ave. After the 9 p.m. show, there will be a DJ and dancing. For more information call (517)333-4040.
