Fridays issue of The State News lay covered in melted ice cream as community members celebrated the fourth annual Super Bowl Sundae on Farm Lane and Wilson Road.
MSU Dairy Store and Dairy Plant employees filled a sanitized pond liner at 2:05 p.m. Friday with 480 gallons of ice cream and topped it with 10 gallons of chocolate sauce, two gallons of maraschino cherries and 21 cans of whipped cream.
The sundae was larger than previous years and was completed and ready to be consumed by 2:40 p.m.

Okemos resident Hannah Michner, 3, pulled her mother Mary Michner and her 18-month-old cousin Molly Cavanaugh across the intersection of the two streets.
Im excited, she said. I want pink ice cream today.
Dairy Plant employee Rodney Clark said the stress level of the workers is high while they prepare the sundae, but their hard work pays off.

Out of the 29 flavors of ice cream the Dairy Plant produces, only 25 were used to build the sundae because of concerns of nut allergies.
Dairy Store Manager Tamara West said Super Bowl Sundae helps make people aware of the products the store sells.
Its an addition to Homecoming events and it lets people know were here and happy to serve them, she said.
Lansing resident Ben Schwarz-Schneider, 14, said this was his first Super Bowl Sundae.
Im excited, I cant wait until they start making it, he said.
