Police briefs 08/06/01

A television, VCR and the mounting piece for the TV were stolen between noon Wednesday and 5 p.m. Thursday from Bailey Hall, MSU police Lt. Kelly Beck said.The items are valued at $600 and police have no suspects.

  • A 23-year-old male student’s residence was robbed between 10:20 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Beck said. A door screen was damaged and a laptop computer was stolen.The total value of the items is $3,050 and police have no suspects.
  • A fire broke out at 8:32 a.m. Friday in the Plant Biology Building. Condensation had been dripping on a light fixture and eventually set fire, which employees extinguished, Beck said.Damages are estimated at $1,000.
  • A 36-year-old female student had two pieces of mail stolen between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday at University Village, Beck said. The student said she had placed them in her mailbox earlier, and when she returned, they were gone.There are no suspects.
  • A 21-year-old female student had her Geo Prizm vandalized between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday. The car had the word “slut” spray-painted on the front and rear passenger doors and hood. There were also signs of scratches from being keyed. Damages are estimated at $3,000 and police have no suspects.
