The Ann Street Plaza Concert Series comes to a close this weekend with performances from Rachael Davis with Brett Hartenbach on Friday and the Sea Cruisers on Saturday.

The concert series has already hosted 12 acts this summer since its opening weekend June 15.

Ami Field, East Lansing community events specialist, said the concerts have been held for more than 15 years and have become a tradition in East Lansing.

“We work very hard to have free events that improve the community,” Field said. “We try to showcase mid-Michigan artists and local artists alike.

“We had a big increase in the amount of people who came to the concerts with blankets and lawn chairs.

Don Dove, drummer for the Sea Cruisers, said the band has played many area festivals and concerts, but this is its first time playing at Ann Street.

“We’re expecting to go out and entertain people,” he said. “And just have a good time in general.”
