The MSU Department of Police and Public Safety has a new public information officer.
Sgt. Florene Taylor has replaced Detective Tony Willis, who served as information officer for more than two years. Willis now works as a campus patrol officer on afternoons.
MSU police Capt. Dave Trexler said Willis was not moved to his new position for any negative reasons.
Tony did an outstanding job as information officer, Trexler said. We rotate positions every couple of years or so. We want our officers to try new things rather than being locked in for five years in a specific area.
Trexler also said the department re-evaluates its officers and their various positions every other year to promote their personal development as officers.
