Police briefs 04/24/01

A 19-year-old male student told police he was awakened in his dorm room Friday morning by an unknown man touching him inappropriately.The man had entered the Armstrong Hall room at about 7:30 a.m. and rubbed the student through his shorts, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said. When the student woke up, the man left the room in an unknown direction.The student then checked each floor of the dorm and bathrooms for the man, Willis said. There was no sign of him and the student’s roommate had not seen the incident.The student was not injured. Police have no suspects, but an investigation is open.

  • A 19-year-old woman reported her car broken into while parked at Cherry Lane Apartments.There was no damage to the 2000 Honda Civic, but a case of 100 CDs was stolen, Willis said. The woman said she thought she had locked the car, but it was found unlocked. There was no sign of forced entry.Losses are estimated at $1,160. Police have no suspects.
  • A 21-year-old male student reported the driver’s side mirror broken off his car.The car was parked in Lot 8, by Student Services, from 8 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday, Willis said.Damage is estimated at $200. Police have no suspects.
  • A 20-year-old male student reported the rear passenger’s side window broken out of his truck, parked in Lot 83, on Service Road.The 1992 Ford Explorer was parked in the lot from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, Willis said. It appeared someone had attempted to steal the rear speakers from the vehicle.Damage is estimated at $200. Police have no suspects.
