Weekend Guide

FRIDAY:

  • The MSU Department of Theatre will present “Sylvia,” the bizarre tale of one man’s love for his dog, at 8 p.m. Friday in the Arena Theatre, in the basement of the Auditorium. Tickets are $5.

  • Sarah Brightman will visit Breslin Student Events Center for her La Luna World Tour. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets can be charged by phone by calling Ticketmaster, 484-5656, or the Breslin box office at 432-5000. Tickets are $38.50 and $48.50. There is a $5 discount for MSU students and employees.

  • “Father, Son and Holy Coach,” a one-man show by actor and screenwriter John Posey, will play at 8 p.m. at Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling 432-2000 or (800) WHARTON.

    SATURDAY:

  • Uptown DJs will spin at Rick’s American Cafe, 224 Abbott Road, from noon to 9 p.m. The Rev. Right Time will play from 9 p.m. to close. 21 and over welcome.

  • Jeremy Sprague, a one-man band, will play at Harper’s Restaurant and Brewpub, 131 Albert Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jerry Sprague, also a one-man band, will play from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Solstice, a band that mixes cover songs with funk and blues, will play from 9 p.m. to close.

    SUNDAY:

  • All-of-Us Express Children’s Theatre will present “Gareth, the Gentle Gargoyle” at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at The Riverwalk Theatre, 228 Museum Drive in Lansing.
