Weekend Guide

Friday:

  • The U.S. Hot Rod Thunder Nationals will be held at 8 p.m. at Breslin Student Events Center. Tickets are $15 for gold circle seats, $10 in advance or $12 at the door. They are available through Ticketmaster or at the Breslin Center Box Office by calling (800) 968-BRES.

  • Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau will play at 8 p.m. at Wharton Center. Tickets are $19.20 for students and $24 for everyone else. They are available by calling (800) WHARTON.

  • The East Lansing Film Society will present “Beau Travail” at the Campus Center Cinema at Wells Hall. Showtimes are 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $2 for students with ID and $5 for everyone else.

    Saturday:

  • Churchbus will play live at 10 p.m. at The Dollar Nightclub, 3411 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing. Doors open at 8 p.m. and those 21 and over are welcome. There is no cover for women and a $3 cover for men.

  • “Queer as Folk” will play at Spiral Video and Dance, 1247 Center St. in Lansing, at 10 p.m. DJ Ron Solo will spin afterward. Doors open at 8 p.m. and there is no cover.

  • The East Lansing Film Society will present “Beau Travail” at the Campus Center Cinema at Wells Hall. Showtimes are 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $2 for students with ID and $5 for everyone else.

  • The Young Playwright’s Festival will be held at the Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre. Six local high school students will have their plays directed and performed by students from the MSU Department of Theatre. Doors open at 2:15 p.m. and the event is open to the public with first-come, first-serve seating.
