Greek elections to take place

Wednesday evening at 6 p.m., the Union will host the greek system’s annual Interfraternity and Panhellenic Council elections.

Fraternity elections will take place in the Union Gold Rooms A and B and sorority elections will be held in the Union Parlors B and C.

Panhellenic president Tiffany Finlan said it’s a responsibility not to be taken lightly.

“It’s important to select a strong individual who will be able to carry on the responsibility of such a large organization,” Finlan said. “I hope they take the traditions that we established and work to build on them.”

The elections will be tabulated by secret ballots as they always have, said Billy Molasso, assistant director of Student Life and greek adviser.

Positions available for the Interfraternity Council are president, vice president for administration, vice president for recruitment, vice president for finance, vice president for membership and vice presidents for internal and external relations.

Positions up for grabs for Panhellenic Council include president, vice president for administration, vice presidents for internal and external recruitment, vice president for finance, vice presidents for internal and external relations and vice president for programming.

Qualified applicants can run for any position, besides president, off the floor, Molasso said.

Eligibility requirements for greek council include being a full-time MSU student maintaining a minimum grade-point average of 2.50.

Applicants must be in good standing in their chapter house and can not be in an elected leadership position in their chapter.

Eligible students must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week and be able to attend two leadership conferences in January and February.
