Police briefs 10/31/00

A 19-year-old non-student reported his vehicle stolen between 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The man parked his red 1993 Jeep Cherokee in the Holden Hall service area while visiting a friend for the weekend. When he went outside in the morning, the car was gone, Willis said.After checking with towing companies, they determined the vehicle had been stolen and contacted police. There are no suspects and the vehicle was valued at $6,000.

  • A 28-year-old male non-student in town for the football game was tackled by a 21-year-old male student at 10:50 a.m. Saturday , Willis said.The student told police he tackled the man after friends bet him $20 to do so. He apologized to the victim and admitted fault to officers. The man had not yet decided whether to press charges.The man suffered minor facial injuries from the impact as well as broken glasses. They were valued at $400.
  • A 21-year-old female desk receptionist at East Holden Hall reported being assaulted early Sunday morning, Willis said.At 2 a.m. the woman refused entrance to an unknown male and he elbowed her. The woman reported that he smelled of alcohol. The man then left the area with two friends, he said.The woman was not injured. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
