Police briefs 10/19/00

A 10-month-old infant boy drowned in a bathtub Wednesday night, Lansing police said.Officials at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital notified police that the boy had arrived at the hospital dead at about 2:40 p.m.The boyfriend of the infant’s mother had been watching the boy in the bathtub but was distracted and found the infant lying face down in the water, Lansing police Lt. Ray Hall said. The infant’s mother lived on the 500 block of Beech Street in Lansing.The Ingham County prosecutor and victim advocates were notified and came to the house. Homicide detectives have been assigned to the case.“We’re investigating this as a suspicious death,” Hall said.

  • A 30-year-old male student living in University Village was arrested on domestic assault charges Tuesday, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The man and his 24-year-old wife were engaged in an argument over marital issues at about 1 p.m. Tuesday when the man allegedly pushed his wife to the ground, he said.The woman was uninjured but contacted MSU police to press charges.
  • A universal world wall map was stolen from the wall in Owen Hall between 5 p.m. Oct. 16 and 8 a.m. Oct. 17, Willis said.The map had been hung on a basement wall.Police have no suspects. The map is valued at $180.
