Several University of Michigan students were arrested early Thursday morning for trespassing on campus and defacing property with trademark blue block Ms.
An MSU greencoat security member on watch-duty at Sparty on Wednesday night noticed a blue block M painted on the side of Spartan Stadium as well as five suspicious-looking males walking through campus, and reported it to the police desk, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.
At about 4 a.m. Thursday, an MSU police officer observed the same five individuals on Walter Adams Memorial Field heading toward a car parked in the IM Sports-Circle lot.
When he approached the men he found four gallons of blue and yellow paint and four dozen eggs in their car, Willis said.
The men admitted to the officer they had painted several block Ms around campus including the one on the stadium, along the footpath by the Administration Building and on the sidewalk near Walter Adams Memorial Field.
They also admitted to throwing eggs at buildings on campus including IM Sports-Circle.
All five men involved in the incident were arrested.
Anthropology junior Leah Lenk found the whole event childish and pathetic when she heard about the incident.
Its disrespectful, she said. They obviously have no lives if they took a day off to drive to East Lansing and egg stuff.
But Willis said this kind of vandalism is not unusual with the MSU vs. U-M game coming up this Saturday.
I would say that during the whole week prior to the game we catch at least one group on campus trying to commit some vandalizing act, he said.
This was the only group this week, but well still be diligently watching the stadium and the surrounding areas until the game is over.
