For ASMSU Student Assembly Chairperson Mike Webber, this semester has been about as good as they come.

Webber said through teamwork and individual determination, the assembly has succeeded together, and hopes next spring will continue to thrive.

“I’m extremely happy with how things have went this year,” Webber said. “The group of officers that I work with have been extremely helpful, we work together really well, and we made a lot of changes to make the organization more efficient and try to help the students out as much as possible.”

Student Assembly’s last meeting of the semester is Thursday at 7 p.m. in 328 Student Services.

The meeting will include only the finance and policy committees, not the entire assembly.

Policy committee will discuss support for a rock wall at MSU, among other bills, while finance committee will discuss a bill that would allocate funds for electronic voting equipment for the internal usage of ASMSU.

ASMSU is MSU’s undergraduate student government.

Student Assembly spent about $215,000 during the fall semester from its risk management fund.

The September iVote concert, as well as internal server upgrades were included in these numbers.

About $74,000 was spent from the special projects fund, $65,000 of which is for a spring concert, which has the potential to earn about $72,000 in revenue.

Next semester, Student Assembly hopes to better monitor the university by striving to have a place in more MSU decisions.

“One of the things we’re really struggling for is that we want to make sure our voice is heard on every decision made by the university,” Webber said.

Kyle Dysarz, vice chairperson for external affairs, said the iVote concert featuring Nas and Brand New was key to the semester’s success. Dysarz called the event a “huge statement” to how active the assembly has been.

Although things have been good overall this semester, Webber said, some small problems are to be expected.

“Things never run as smoothly as you want them to, but overall, the year has been good,” he said.
