The No. 15 MSU men’s basketball team enters halftime holding a slim lead over visiting Boise State, 38-32.
The Spartans started off slow early on, but rode a 16-2 run to take a 29-22 lead. Junior guard Keith Appling leads MSU with 11 points, followed by sophomore forward Branden Dawson, who’s bucketed eight.
Injuries became a concern with the Spartans in the game’s first 20 minutes as freshman guard Gary Harris left with what appears to be a shoulder injury and is unlikely to return. Dawson later went down with what looked to be an injury to his right ankle just before the first half came to a close.
MSU’s slow start was highlighted by struggles on the board and at the charity stripe, at one point being outrebounded by the Broncos 12-4 while shooting 25 percent on two-of-eight free throw shooting. However, MSU enters the half dead even with the Broncos on rebounds with each team grabbing 14 boards, and shooting 62.5 percent from the free throw line.
