The East Lansing Police Department confirmed in an email Monday afternoon that a body was found near Michigan State University's campus Sunday night.
The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety assisted ELPD when they discovered the deceased body in the Red Cedar River, just east of Cedar Village.
According to the ELPD, there is no ongoing threat to the public, but this is still an ongoing investigation.
The individual’s identity has not yet been confirmed, and additional information will be released once the person is identified and their family has been notified.
