Radiology chairperson suspended amid Nassar investigations

February 9, 2018

The MSU Department of Radiology Chairperson Suresh Mukherji was suspended Feb. 7.

MSU Communication and Brand Strategy released a statement Feb. 9, announcing the suspension.

MSU spokesperson Kent Cassella said in the "MSU Radiology Chairperson Suspended" statement:

“As Interim President Engler said in an email to MSU faculty and staff earlier this week, he expects everyone at MSU to fully cooperate with all Nassar-related inquiries and investigations," MSU spokesperson Kent Cassella said in a press release. "If contacted by the Office of the General Counsel for assistance in responding to any such inquiry, they are expected to provide full assistance, give that request prompt attention and preserve any and all documents, records, or electronically stored information that relate to these inquiries.”

There were concerns expressed about Mukherji's "leadership and departmental communications," according to the suspension letter.

A review will be conducted, the letter said.

MSU Provost June Pierce Youatt said in the letter she expects Mukherji to cooperate fully with the investigation.

Mukherji will have no assigned duties during the suspension.
