Hand-rolled ice cream as well as infusion and bubble teas are coming to downtown East Lansing when a new restaurant, Unicha, opens in mid-September at 111 Division Street.

“It’s very trendy right now,” Manager Irene Zhang said. “You get to see how we make ice cream from the liquid to the real ice cream and you select all your toppings.”

There are 12 permanent ice cream flavors with names like “One More Thai,”  "Strawberry Shawty" and "S’More Fun," and more flavors will be added based on what customers want, Zhang said.

“We try to add in new flavors, like once (every) two weeks or once a week,” Zhang said.

The teas at Unicha are made through infusion and have no preservatives, which is better than cooked teas, Zhang said. Unicha will hire MSU students and an application is available on its website.

“We need a bunch of people for the opening,” Zhang said.

Unicha will be open Monday through Thursday noon to 10 p.m., Friday noon to 11 p.m., Saturday 1 to 11 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 9 p.m.
