Each week, The State News will interview a member of the MSU hockey team and ask questions not just related to hockey. This week, The State News interviewed sophomore forward Mason Appleton.

The State News: So the first (question) is going to be your dream vacation?

Mason Appleton: You know, it’s cold here right now and snowing, so I’m going to say anywhere warm with my family. Obviously, playing college and juniors, you don’t get to spend that much time with your family, so it would be nice to go somewhere warm with my family.

SN: The second one is (your) favorite place to eat in East Lansing?

MA: I’m going to have to say HopCat. I always go there with my family after games. I might switch it up whenever I get there, but I love that place.

SN: OK, you can only have one song on your playlist. What would that song be and why?

MA: It’s going to be something probably by Kenny Chesney. I’m a big country guy and I don’t know if I could name the song, but something by Kenny.

SN: What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?

MA: I’m an accounting major. I’m a numbers guy. I like math like those things, so not a lot of people know that I’m a big numbers guy.

SN: Next week, I’m going to interview Joe Cox. What question do you want me to ask him?

MA: Who’s the best looking guy on the team? Maybe name drop me there, too.
