58 MSU student athletes named Academic All-Big Ten

A total of 58 MSU student athletes were recognized Wednesday for earning Academic All-Big Ten Honors in winter sports.

According to a press release from the Big Ten Conference, to be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The Big Ten honored a total of 780 student athletes, including 12 with perfect GPAs, four of which from MSU -- women's swimming and diving's Courtney Aycock, Rebecca Berman and Heidi Surdyk, and wrestling's Joe Johnson.
