The MSU men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both awarded All-American academic honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, CSCAA, according to a press release from Spartan Athletics.

The CSCAA awards the All-American distinction to all member teams whose competitors achieve a collective 3.0 grade-point average or higher. According to the CSCAA website, this calculation includes all members who competed for the team this season, and is calculated based on semester GPAs rather than cumulative GPAs.

The MSU men's team posted an average GPA of 3.28, while the women's team posted an average of 3.38. The teams joined the nine other men's teams and 11 other women's teams in the Big Ten to help the conference post a 100 percent All-America rate and the most honored teams of any conference across all divisions of four-year college athletics, NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, according to an article on the CSCAA website.

In total, 547 NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA teams were awarded the honor, including 70 percent of NCAA Division I schools, according to the release.
