Grandson of former U-M head football coach Lloyd Carr dies after fight with cancer

The grandson of former University of Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr and son of former U-M quarterback Jason Carr, Chad Carr, died Monday.

5-year-old Carr, who was battling an inoperable brain tumor, was diagnosed 15 months ago to the day and had recently been placed in hospice care.

Chad’s parents posted the news on the “Pray for Chad Carr” Facebook page.

At 1:21pm today, exactly 15 months since his DIPG diagnosis, Chad gained his angel wings. He left the earth peacefully...

Supporters all across social media have been using the hashtag #ChadTough to raise awareness and show support for the Carr family.

Carr’s death comes shortly after the story gained nationwide attention after being featured on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday. On top of the support from U-M fans and students alike, both the MSU and Ohio State University football teams wore helmet stickers to show support for the Carr family.
