QUIZ: How employable are you?

April 16, 2015

Each new day means one step closer to the end of undergraduate studies for the class of 2015.

With graduation comes the annoying “what are you doing after graduation?” question which has already been following some students around for months.

And while some students have job opportunities lined up for post-grad life, others might be struggling just to set up an interview.

Perhaps the reason is lack of jobs in a particular field, but it could also mean a lack in professionalism or qualities that employers are looking for.

Bill Morgan, the experiential learning and on-campus internship coordinator with Career Services, said exhibiting what a student has learned the last four years in addition to how someone presents themselves in an interview is important.

“You need to have your story together and know yourself,” Morgan said. “Taking the time to think about ‘Who am I? How do I best present myself in a way that is relevant to the employers I’m about to talk to?’”

He also said employers are looking for passion within in the individual – and that doesn’t mean talking fast or acting peppy in an interview.

“Doing the research, making connections between the employer and what you have to bring demonstrates the passion,” Morgan said.

The State News created this quiz with help from Morgan to assist students in finding out how employable they really are.
