Face-off: Did welcome week live up to your expectations?

September 1, 2014

We asked students: did welcome week live up to your expectations?

“I had no expectations. I called a cab to see if they would move things into my place for me and they said they would charge $50, but I called another cab that did it for free.”

Lutong Zhang, psychology junior

“There were a lot of fun frat parties. It was a blast. There weren’t as many hot girls as I expected. Everybody is very busy, I didn’t expect this many people walking around.”

Andrew Thomas, chemical engineering freshman

“Welcome week definitely met my expectations. I expected it to be crazy, but it was better than I thought. I blacked out for the first time and puked all over my upperclassmen friend’s couch, so I felt pretty bad about that.”

Zach Gadowski, Lyman Briggs freshman

“I knew it would be hectic. I had to walk my rug from Akers to McDonel because it was easier than trying to fit it into my car. It’s been good so far, nothing too crazy.”

Kaleigh Galloway, premedical freshman

“I moved up a little bit later than most kids do because I didn’t want to go overboard. My expectations for my first night up here were definitely met, but the bars were actually pretty dead on Monday. It was definitely a good time though.”

Chase Basch, hospitality business senior

“Me and my friends played this game where you fill two gutters with water and feeder fish. You draw a line at the end, have two people race the fish by spraying them with a squirt bottle, and whoever’s fish was last has to eat the fish. We had parents come over to play which lead to one of my friends’ 60-year-old dad bonging a fish out of a beer bong.”

Stephen Hushak, supply chain management senior
